About the Hike:
Located inside Tucker Brook Town Forest, Tucker Brook Falls is a small and hugely seasonal waterfall. If you visit in spring, you will be treated to a wide, rushing cascade, but if you go in the summer, you'll see nothing but a trickle over a wet rock! To visit the falls, you can follow a short trail and an optional scenic loop that leads along the brook. Facing the back of the parking area, the trail begins on the far right, next to the road. Follow this trail, the Ridge Trail. The trail from the parking area parallels the road not more than ten feet away. It slowly turns away in the direction of Tucker Brook. After crossing a bridge and ascending a small hill, you will arrive at the fork at the beginning of Falls Loop, after about 0.3 miles. Turn left and follow this trail to take the loop, or continue on and take the next left for the more direct route.

The falls are very close to here, but to approach them from the loop, you will travel downstream (at the far end of the falls loop, there is another trail going out to a different parking area; turn right to stay on the trail), then follow the brook back toward the falls. On the way, you'll pass the remains of some old stone dams by the water. When you reach Tucker Brook Falls, you will be able to walk down by the river in front of it to get a good perspective. It is a short waterfall, wider than it is tall, with water flowing smoothly over the drop so that no rock is visible behind the water. When you're finished admiring the falls, you can walk to the top and see it from there. Soon after leaving the falls, you will be back at the beginning of the loop. Turn right and you will quickly pass where you first turned onto the loop.
